Vitaly Zaslavsky began training in SAMBO at the age of nine, launching a lifelong martial arts journey that has taken him from elite competition to coaching, leadership, and the development of future athletes. Today, he serves as the Head Instructor of Stiles Street MMA Academy in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and as President of the All-American SAMBO Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A graduate of the legendary SAMBO-70 School<\/strong> in Moscow, Vitaly earned the prestigious title of Master of Sport in SAMBO while training under renowned coaches Andrey Saburov and David Rudman. His competitive career includes success at both the national and international levels in SAMBO and Judo, earning medals at the National SAMBO Championship, World Masters SAMBO Championship, IJF World Judo Masters, Pan American Judo Championships, Yonezuka Memorial, and East Coast Judo Championships. Earlier in his career, he also won titles at the Moscow Open and prestigious Trud and Burevestnik Sports Union Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As a coach and leader, Vitaly has represented the United States on the international stage for decades. He coached Brendan Walsh to a bronze medal at the 2006 Junior World SAMBO Championship and served as the Head of the U.S. National SAMBO Team at the 2008 World SAMBO Championship in St. Petersburg and the 2009 Anatoly Kharlampiev Memorial International SAMBO Tournament in Moscow, Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beyond competition, Vitaly is a respected instructor, referee, and seminar presenter. He has conducted technical clinics and referee certification seminars throughout the United States, helping develop athletes, coaches, and officials. In 2005, he co-led SAMBO training sessions for NATO rapid-deployment forces in Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2012, he led a special SAMBO seminar for cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, introducing future Army officers to the principles, techniques, and practical applications of SAMBO in collaboration with the academy\u2019s physical education department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n With more than four decades of experience as an athlete, coach, referee, and administrator, Vitaly remains dedicated to preserving the traditions of SAMBO and Judo while making them accessible to modern students.
